Also DayBreak The company that's in charge of EQ2 really doesn't care about its player base as as much as Blizzard does to WoW (aka micro transactions, p2w mechanics, etc.), and they are using it as a money cow to keep the game afloat more than a way to draw back old players or attract new players to the game which is currently riddled with issues on live , and plagued with problems with mechanics and number bloat.

Though I'm not quite sure what the maximum limit is, I play on Siel server at Aion Classic. It's very busy during the day as well as at night (I'm NA East). It's a lot of fun and popular with both NA as well as EU players. So I suggest you go ahead and join us. :)

I decided not to sign up after more research because of the business behind Aion. It's not fun to keep track of my progress as im not a whale and even prior to doing so, the result will end in death, most likely.

Asmodians also annoy the Elyos frequently in Heiron Some go as far as to rob those farming Aether beyond the gate...Some can gank you if you are half health from mobs that are pve, or when you're fighting an enemy. You would not want to lose the advantage that was yours.

Retail turned out to be something completely different. Everything you used to play as a kid is still present. I would not recommend it. I've gone over the major variations in my comments history If you're interested to know what has changed or happened.

Classic is an excellent choice but there are only two servers and they are still balancing. Siel is much more pop-oriented, asmodian-heavy and also has the most of the depths. This means it is hard to get AP occasionally.

Israphel has an elongated pop, and is more elyos-heavy. They own about 50 percent of the abyss and the remainder divided between balaur and asmo, making it easier to harvest AP. NA However, I prefer playing during EU times. While it can get very quiet at times, I have never had difficulty getting groups.
